Remitano Exchange Reportedly Hacked for $2.7 Million

Tether has frozen two addresses that the attacker allegedly used on both the Ethereum and TRON networks, potentially saving $2.7 Million $USDT.

According to a post from Peckshield, a leading blockchain security platform, Remitano Exchange appears to have fallen victim to a significant exploit. The incident occurred on September 15, when more than $2.7 million was drained from the exchange's Tron and Ethereum wallets.

Peckshield cited suspicious activities in Remitano's transactions as the red flag that alerted them to the hack. In a move to save $2.7 Million $USDT, Tether has frozen two addresses that the attacker allegedly used on both the Ethereum and TRON networks.

However, the hacker on Ethereum managed to convert stolen USD Coin ($USDC) and Ankr ($Ankr) into approximately 163 Ethereum ($ETH), worth around $264,000. These funds were then transferred to another exchange, HitBTC.

The incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures within the cryptocurrency exchange landscape to safeguard users' assets.
