Linea Rolls Out Mainnet Alpha Release; to Open for the Public Next Week

Linea, the novel zkEVM rollup network, has announced the rollout of its mainnet alpha release. This milestone follows a successful testnet phase that saw 5.5 million unique wallets commit over 46 million transactions.

Linea combines the power of zero-knowledge proofs with full Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) equivalence, allowing builders to create scalable decentralized applications (dapps) or migrate existing ones without the hassle of changing code or rewriting smart contracts.

The mainnet alpha release includes a number of upgrades to the zkEVM architecture, which significantly improve the network's performance, user experience, and transaction costs. These changes reflect Linea's unwavering commitment to building the most scalable, efficient, secure, and user-friendly Ethereum layer 2 (L2) rollup.

Onboarding Partners

The alpha release is now available to Linea's launch partners, and will be open to the public next week during ETHCC. With a growing ecosystem of over 100 partners, Linea empowers users, builders, and developers to build a new generation of scalable Ethereum dapps.

The alpha release delivers faster throughput and transaction fees up to 15 times lower than Ethereum layer 1 (L1). In addition, the release enables deeper integrations with MetaMask, which plans to offer Linea to users of their popular Bridge, Swap, and Buy features in Portfolio.

This week, MetaMask and Consensys NFT will onboard onto the mainnet alongside other partners. When the network opens to users next week, Linea will introduce the art as its first official NFT collection, which will be presented to Voyage participants during a livestream on July 18. 

The mainnet alpha release is a significant milestone in Linea’s journey. As partners begin migrating to the alpha release this week, they will unlock a constellation of new scalable dapps from gaming and identity to decentralized social networks and NFTs.
