Pi Network validators hit a snag over the weekend but most have since returned to normal.

Pi Validators Hit With Problems

Users running Pi Network validators were affected by several problems over the weekend. What has since been confirmed to be an expected hiccup by the Pi Core team saw many users experiencing lost validator status, lost validation numbers, and more headaches.

Many veteran users experienced a few frightening hours beginning Friday and into Saturday, hoping that their status and hard work dedicated to the Pi Network as validators were not all lost.

“Same boat here. 40 validations and now my status is "awaiting acceptation" What's going on?” wrote the Reddit user fladnarus in a Pi Network subreddit thread.

Some frenzy could be expected by an outage like this. There were reportedly many comments and questions throughout the Pi Validator chat rooms in the Pi Browser as well. Some Reddit users questioned foul play, and others reported quick recoveries.

The situation did improve. Many users reported only short outages with simple refresh needed, while others confessed to more rigmarole surrounding KYC and verifications.

It does not appear that the Pi Core Team gave any initial announcement about these expected outages, but the Pi Core team relayed messages throughout the day.

At around 23:50 on December 10, Co-Founder and Technical Director Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis confirmed to Pioneers that a new algorithm will help resolve the validator status issues.

Many users have reported having regained status over the weekend. Users have also recovered their previous validation figures.

The KYC issues ahead of Pi Network persist. The Pi Core team faces the monumental task of verifying millions of users from hundreds of countries. The team recently confirmed to be updating their KYC process for improvements.

What is Pi Network:

Pi Network is a mobile blockchain mining project on a mission to give everyone access to the cryptocurrency revolution. The project was founded by a team of Stanford University Ph.D. candidates who designed a mobile-friendly blockchain mining algorithm.

Pi Network has evolved over the years and has organized a hackathon, built a couple of working Pi blockchain apps, and is now in the final stages of transition to public mainnet.‍
