PH Web3 Festival Halfway Highlights

The Philippine Web3 Festival is off to a hot start with various networking sessions, interactive booths, and informative speeches.

The largest web3 event in the Philippines recently crossed the halfway mark of their week-long celebration. Here’s what has happened so far.

First, some side events transpired as early as the weekend before the festival. The hackathon started on November 12, while Nuseir Yassin of Nas.io, and festival organizers YGG and Blockchain Space hosted a dinner for local Web3 builders the following day.

Next, the festival officially kicked off spectacularly with multiple parties and networking events thrown near and around the conference venue.

The pre-party venue

Registration cocktails were served at the island bar for those who wanted to network while avoiding long lines during the first day of conferences. Three side events happened simultaneously in the evening for conference attendees to choose from, including Panimula, the official Kick Off party of the Philippine Web3 Festival.

The first speaker of the festival of the conference was Assistant Secretary Jeff Dy of the Department of Information and Communications Technology of the Philippine Government. This was followed up by a quick history lesson by Colin Goltra, COO of Yielg Guild Games (YGG), as he explained how the industry started in the Philippines. But the most anticipated keynote speech of the morning was that of Axie Infinity Co-Founder, Jeff Zirlin, aka Jihoz.

Jihoz speaking to the crowd

It is no secret that Axie Infinity boomed in the Philippines, and Jihoz said thank you by providing alpha leaks on the game's future for the first time while on stage. A quick interview took place after the keynote speech. Before Jihoz spoke the Filipino Axie community formed a massive line to take selfies with the Co-Founder of the islands most popular blockchain game.

Outside the conference hall, booths from various game companies and event sponsors were set up with lots of merchandise prizes to be won by lucky festival goers. The day ended with more parties as BreederDAO, Blockchain Space, Mirai Labs, and Tier One hosted the Gathering of the Greats at Xylo bar in BGC.

The Philippine Web3 Festival is off to a hot start. A livestream is available on the event’s Facebook page for those who cannot be there physically.
