PancakeSwap Fan Token Fiasco

The PancakeSwap Fan Token Trading Battle went for one week between December 14 and December 20. The battle between trading teams Fearsom Flippers, Chaotic Cakers, Syrup Storm saw an impressive performance from the three teams all around. The scores fetched over $126 milion in total volume traded, and  Fearsome Flippers brought home first place with a towering $79,851,188 TVL.

Despite the massive interaction for users and community demand to see PancakeSwap not be so buggy, as of December 27, the Top 500 performers were still waiting to claim rewards following a bot attack and final listings. Fans were certainly displeased as claims as high as the millions were left sitting unclaimed for multiple days. The social media of PancakeSwap issued multiple updates throughout the week to give bewildered fans just enough to be informed.

“We have just completed the fix and it’s currently under serval reviews and audits. Claiming for Top 500 team players is expected to resume on 12:00 UTC 27th Dec,” PancakeSwap tweeted. “Rest assured all eligible players will be able to claim their prizes. Thank you for your patience.”

The demand for success by PancakeSwap continues to grow as more users interact with the protocol than anywhere else on Binance Smart Chain. The comment sections of the Twitter updates by PancakeSwap show a disheartened community. It’s not a good look when your comment section is filled with dozens of fans asking to “check DMs” decrying unclaimed rewards attached to images of accounts with forlorn bags.

Some fans still see optimism with the protocol. The incredible volume shows that the battle was attractive to users and PancakeSwap is still the protocol that attracts the most users on Binance Smart Chain. The entire Binance Smart Chain ecosystem is healthier with a stronger and more powerful Cake token and PancakeSwap protocol in general.

“Too much FUD on $CAKE these days. If you don't like it, just sell it and move on,” tweeted @HoldThePuppy. “@PancakeSwap chefs are working hard and doing their best to the project and I still believe in cake too. Keep staking and enjoy your life!”
