The Established Progress

Chainlink’s verifiable random function (VRF), has hit a significant milestone generating over 1 million requested random numbers.

Chainlink VRF provides a verifiable source of randomness for projects across the cryptosphere, operating on Binance Smart Chain, Polygon and Ethereum. In a recent blog post Chainlink were keen to stress the multitude of uses to which their random number generator can be employed.

“Since its mainnet launch in October 2020, Chainlink VRF has serviced over a million requests for fair and unbiased random numbers across Ethereum, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain. Those random numbers have been used to power a wide variety of use cases in blockchain gaming, NFTs, and DeFi,” said Chainlink in their blog on September 22nd.

The company went on to list 35 proven use cases. BSCNews has reported on a number of those different use cases. Earlier this month we reported that AutoShark is using Chainlink VRF to randomize NFT rarity boosts. In August we revealed that Moonpot would partner with Chainlink to provide verifiably random lotteries. In July we told you that ApeSwap is using the service to randomize NFT distribution for Apes, and that the PancakeSwap lottery will also rely on VRF.

Use Case Galore

In the search for implementations, Chainlink VRF has been keen to suggest areas where their service may be of use. The company has organized these into six areas where they feel VRF is best suited. These are: gaming and the metaverse; NFT creation and distribution; lucky draws and DeFi; marketing campaigns and loyalty rewards; fair selection and ordering processes; and authentication and security.
