OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's Worldcoin Wallet Chooses Optimism for Improved Scalability

The partnership with Optimism will take advantage of its layer 2 scaling solution built on the Ethereum mainnet, using an optimistic roll-up.

Worldcoin Wallet Migrates from Polygon to Optimism

Worldcoin’s gas-free crypto wallet, founded by OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, will be migrating from Polygon to Optimism's mainnet.

The Worldcoin wallet app, launched on May 8, has already gained nearly 500,000 active users worldwide. Altman's startup initially chose Polygon as its launchpad but has now aligned with Optimism to take advantage of its layer 2 scaling solution built on the Ethereum mainnet.

This partnership is expected to improve the scalability of the wallet app and provide faster and cheaper transactions for its users.

Optimism uses an optimistic roll-up method to process transactions off-chain and settle them on the Ethereum mainnet. This approach allows for faster and cheaper transactions and has gained significant attention in the crypto community in recent years.

The partnership between Worldcoin and Optimism also includes migrating the World ID protocol to Optimism's OP mainnet. This move marks a milestone in expanding the future Web3 identity and governance realm and could revolutionize economic interactions.

Optimism is trading at $1.5257, down 9% in 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
