MetaMask Co-Founder says $MASK rumors spread by people “who don’t know what they’re talking about.”

No $MASK Airdrop

MetaMask wants the Web3 world to know: There is no snapshot or $MASK airdrop scheduled for March 31. Also, be on the lookout for scammers trying to take advantage of the rumors.

False information has been circulating online that on March 31, MetaMask will take a snapshot recording users’ interaction with the wallet’s features, including swapping, bridging and staking.

According to the rumors, MetaMask would use that snapshot information to determine the allocation for an impending airdrop of the greatly anticipated MASK token.

“These rumors are not only false, but they are dangerous. They create opportunities for scammers and phishers,” MetaMask tweeted.

MetaMask Co-Founder Dan Finlay also attempted to quash the rumors, saying the fake news was being hyped by “a bunch of people who don't know what they're talking about.”

If and when MetaMask or parent company Consensys ever decides to launch $MASK, it would be a headline event in crypto, and if there were a $MASK airdrop, the excitement around the new token would be insane.

But until you hear it from official sources, approach airdrop rumors with healthy skepticism. Always DYOR. And watch out for scammers claiming they can get you a piece of $MASK.
