In a bold move, European airline giant Lufthansa has propelled itself into the digital age by launching its nonfungible token (NFT) loyalty program on the Polygon Network.

This initiative opens the doors for travelers to transform their trips into NFTs that unlock a plethora of exciting rewards, including free miles, business lounge vouchers, and frequent traveler status unlocks.

Created by Lufthansa Innovation Hub, the airline’s digital innovation arm, and Miles & More, its frequent flyer program, the Uptrip loyalty platform was unveiled on August 31. Airline passengers can seamlessly scan their boarding passes using the mobile app and convert them to NFT trading cards. To mint, transfer, and trade the Uptrip Trading Cards as NFTs, users will need to connect their wallets within the app.

This strategic move sees Europe's largest airline group join the ranks of numerous decentralized applications and major enterprises such as Adobe, Stripe, and Robinhood that are actively building on the Polygon network.
