Five Web3 FPS GameFi Projects in the Market to Check Out

The First Person Shooter (FPS) genre gives the player a firsthand experience of various tactical battles armed with a variety of weapons, either purchased or picked up through gameplay, in order to complete an objective. Gameplay variations include Objectives, like planting a bomb, killing all members of the opposing team, or capturing an area; Survival, where players battle against waves of enemies; and Deathmatch, where players or teams vie to be the last team standing.

FPS games date back to the 1970’s and 1980’s through a game called Maze War, but grew in popularity thanks to classics like Castle Wolfenstein and Doom. The genre really took off when multiplayer functionality was introduced with games like Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Current popular Web2 titles include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valorant, Player Unknown’s BattleGrounds, Fortnite, Call Of Duty, and many more.

With blockchain integration slowly becoming more popular, gaming studios are starting to create Web3 version of their FPS games by adding some PlayAndEarn mechanics to the popular game genre.

Mini Royale: Nations

Mini Royale: Nations is an FPS blockchain game built on the Solana blockchain. It is a FreeToPlay browser game currently with three game modes, Battle Royale, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag. The game puts a premium on social interaction through clans and integrates blockchain technology through Non-Fungible Token (NFT) skins, Land, and tokens like $CHEDDAR and $ROYALE. Born To Die

Born To Die (BTDG) is a PlayAndEarn blockchain FPS game that has been in development for over two years. Built on BNB Chain, BTDG takes a more realistic approach to its graphics and focuses on both Player vs Environment (PvE) and Player vs Player (PvP) gameplay. The NFTs in this metaverse include Heroes, the core gameplay experience; In-Game assets, like guns, cars and wearables; and Resources, which are essential to economy balancing within the game. $BORN tokens are also used for any transactions outside the main gameplay ecosystem. MetaOps

Another FPS PlayAndEarn blockchain game on Solana is MetaOps. According to their website, MetaOps takes advantage of digital ownership that blockchain allows by turning all in-game assets into NFTs that can be traded on the secondary market. The team also plans to launch their own token, but details are yet to be announced. A Founder’s Pass, which currently has a floor of 1.55 $SOL, is required to participate in the Beta. Arsenal

Arsenal is a PlayAndEarn FPS game built on Polygon and BNB Chain that aims to bring the feel of popular Web2 FPS game Counter-Strike to the blockchain scene. Four game modes are available within the Arsenal ecosystem: Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, and Elimination. Players earn points by completing various PvP achievements and can convert their points into $WELT. Multipliers also apply depending on the amount of $WELT a player stakes. Undead Blocks

Left 4 Dead fans have something to look forward to as Kevuru Games is building a similar blockchain game, Undead Blocks, on the Ethereum Network. Currently in Open Beta, the game is a multiplayer survival FPS game where players fend off waves of zombies and earn cryptocurrency while they do it. Staking $UNDEAD tokens, one of the two tokens in the ecosystem, has the additional utility of minting a weapons loadout for free apart from the APY rewards.
