L'Équipe offers NFTs on Tezos to Ballon d'Or winners

For the 66th edition of the Ballon d'Or football awards, French group L'Équipe which organizes the awards will innovate by entering the world of web3. It announced the launch of NFT collections around this ceremony which rewards the best footballers of the year.

In addition, various advantages to the NFT owners such as the chance to attend the ceremony for 20 years or obtain exclusive Sorare Ballon d'Or cards.

Created by the cryptoartist Léo Caillard, a member of the NFT Factory, these digital objects are inspired by pyrite, the mineral forming the base of the trophy. For all of them, the group has chosen to use the Tezos blockchain, designed to be energy efficient.

"The owners of these 2,022 NFTs will receive information in preview, in the form of newsletters or video content, and will be able to participate in contests", explained Émilie Montané, director of strategy and development for the L'Équipe group.

L'Equipe has selected the Tezos blockchain for its energy efficiency. A first collection called "True Pyrite," composed of 3 NFTs, will be auctioned on September 15. These tokens will allow their holders to obtain VIP access to the ceremony on October 17. During the award ceremony, the five winners will also receive a double of their trophy in NFT.
