AxieCon Ticket Sales Go Live

Axie Classic’s Last Dance

Axie Infinity, a PlayAndEarn blockchain game on the Ronin network, has released tickets for their highly anticipated event, AxieCon, which will be held from September 7 to 10 in Barcelona, Spain. 

AxieCon will be different from any other community organized meet-up in the past. Tickets went live on July 1 after the team announced the sale via a Tweet. Three different Axie tournaments will be held during AxieCon, with a prize pool amounting to about $1 million split across the three events. Two of the three events will be played using Axie Infinity: Origin, while the World Championship will be done in their classic V2 game mode. 

“We never had a chance to do a huge in-person tournament for Classic,” Jeff Zirlin, Axie Infinity Co-Founder and Growth Lead, Tweeted. “This will give [the game] the proper send-off it deserves. Classic got us from a community of a few hundred to millions. We've been the most played NFT game in the world for 3 years now. The first 3 peat! This will truly be, The Last Dance.”

Axie Classic World Championships will have a series of qualifiers to narrow down the player pool from as high as 64,000 down to just 16. Those who qualify will be flown to Barcelona to compete onsite for the grand prize, all at the expense of Sky Mavis. A total prize pool of $500,000 has been allocated to the lone Axie Classic tournament for AxieCon.

The remaining prize pool will be split between the BYOD Tournament, which will have a prize pool of $400,000, and the Stadium Series, with an allocation of $100,000. The BYOD tournament will be open to all AxieCon goers with a device that can play the latest version of Axie Infinity: Origins, while the Stadium Series will be a set of mini tournaments for a chance to play against Senior Sky Mavis officials

Tournaments aren’t the only things to look out for during the three-day event. Product announcements, developer and community panels, governance discussions, and much more are in store to those who attend the event.

“I’m pretty excited! The moment the event was announced I knew I had to be there,” Chuck Fresco, an OG within the Axie community, told Web3Wire. “A lot of the early community members only dreamed about AxieCon happening back when we rolled our first Axies. I look forward to meeting different community members and having a fun time. Even though I may know a lot of people by their online name, it’s a completely different feeling meeting them in person. I hope I get to meet Jihoz!”

An AxieCon pass costs $150 plus tax. Mystic Axie holders get additional utility as they will get their passes upgraded to VIP passes, which are not sold to the public, as well as additional perks during the event. 

“The event represents how far Axie has come since 2018,” Chuck added. “Sky Mavis was a small group when it started but now it’s a large company able to host events like this. I think it will help a lot of us in the community to bond and really talk about our favorite Axies!”
