Identity Credentials Highly Critical in Web3

Project Galaxy, a Web3 credentials infrastructure protocol, recently received a project spotlight from the BNB Chain ecosystem.

The project spotlight entailed an interview that BNB Chain conducted with the Chief Marketing Officer of Project Galaxy, Anne Ouellet. The project has positioned itself as one of the leading credential data networks in the Web3 ecosystem. 

Project Galaxy’s infrastructure currently supports over 7 chains and works with over 400 partners through various campaigns, varying from publishing introductory courses for a particular network to advanced DeFi campaigns. The project has been audited by both SlowMist and CertiK.

“At the very beginning, we wanted to empower projects to leverage NFT engagement campaigns to better manage their communities. As we saw the astonishing results from the first set of campaigns, we realized that the power of these campaigns was not only coming from NFTs, it was also coming from the credential data — your contributions, reputations, etc.,” stated Ouellet of Project Galaxy about the project’s evolving vision. “Because of that, we expanded and built Project Galaxy into a more generalized protocol for everyone to leverage this open and collaborative credential data network.”

Issuing Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) based on credentials is one of the prime use-cases for Project Galaxy’s offering, with more than 500 partners launching more than 2,000 credential-based NFT campaigns. The project highlights that credential data can also be used by developers for utilities like credit scoring, customized voting systems, and Sybil attack prevention amongst others.

Project Galaxy launched the GAL Chain as a BNB Application Sidechain (BAS) on June 1, which is powered by NodeReal Semita, one of the pioneers of the BAS infrastructure providers. Using the GAL Chain, the project aims to empower users to curate and contribute the digital credentials to its ecosystem. Users can apply them through application modules, oracle credentials, and API credentials. 

As previously reported by BSC News, the Web3 credentials protocol announced in September last year that they would be collaborating with BNB Chain to reward the winners of the Most Valuable Builder Program (MVB) III program with exclusive NFT badges. The NFT badges that the winners were awarded gave them access to exclusive benefits like access to BNB conferences and events, industry networking, and mentoring opportunities.
