The move seeks to provide the Web3 community with enhanced data access and analytics capabilities.
Summary
Google Cloud has announced a significant expansion of its BigQuery public datasets program, adding support for 11 additional in-demand blockchains. The move aims to provide a more comprehensive view of the crypto landscape and empower the Web3 community with improved data access and analytics capabilities.
The newly integrated blockchains, which are available in preview, include Avalanche, Arbitrum, Cronos, Ethereum (Görli), Fantom (Opera), Near, Optimism, Polkadot, Polygon Mainnet, Polygon Mumbai, and Tron. This expansion builds on Google Cloud's ongoing efforts since 2018 to democratize blockchain data and enhance the accessibility of crypto-related information.
James Tromans, Global Head of Web3 at Google Cloud, emphasized the community-driven nature of this expansion, stating, "They want to answer complex questions and verify subjective claims like 'how many NFTs were minted today across three specific chains?' or 'how do transaction fees compare across chains?' or 'how many active wallets are on the top EVM chains?'"
The move also includes improvements to the existing Bitcoin BigQuery dataset, with the addition of Satoshis (sats) and Ordinals, making it easier for developers to query and analyze Bitcoin data.
Google Cloud's commitment to supporting the blockchain community continues with a focus on offering diverse data options, user choice, and partnerships with startups and data providers to further enrich the Web3 ecosystem. This expansion represents a significant step towards enabling data-driven insights for blockchain enthusiasts and businesses alike.
